Vila girl’s football festival a success

The event was the first Festival for 2015 and was organized by Vanuatu Football Woman’s Department with the support of Port Vila Football, Vanuatu Football, OFC and FIFA.
Girls aged between 10 and 12 years from various schools in Port Vila were invited to test their skills in a range of activities combining football and fun.
VFF new Woman’s Development Officer Mely David said; “We’re here trying to promote the women’s game to the younger generation with the help of the PVFA, VFF, OFC and FIFA, working together to encourage the players of the future.
“It’s really good for girls to have something like this that they can do while they’re young; with opportunities like this the girls don’t just have to play with the boys’ team.
“If these girls are aspiring to play we’ve got to set an example and give them the chance to take part.”
Miss David also mentioned that a Woman’s Football Open tournament already kicks off in Port Vila and Luganville last weekend.
