OFC Goalkeeping Instructor James Bannatyne, a former New Zealand All Whites goalie was in Vanuatu this week to finalize the next year’s football academy program and goalkeeping school was on the main agenda.
“We are very happy to have James here with us again and what we are doing now is to put together program and plans for the Goalkeeping School next year 2016.” Said Wilson August, VFF Goalkeeper coach.
“I am happy to speak with the goalkeeping coaches like Wilson August, Jean Yves Galine and Obed Jimmy.”
“We have gone through how to identify young goalkeepers in different member associations and also provide structures and training contents.” Said James Bannatyne.
“We aim to keep it simple and enjoyable so the new goalkeepers can enjoy the trainings.”
“We are planning to start with children Under 10 years and we encourage the young girls and boys to start thinking about goalkeeping.” He said.
“I also encourage the clubs in Port Vila and the whole of Vanuatu to liase with Vanuatu Football on how to start a goalkeeping training session with their young football players.” He concluded.
