New Beach Boys advance to semi-final

They lost to an experience Solomon Islands Bilikiki team with players like James Naka and Gideon amokorio in their first game 6-2 but came back strongly and beat Europa Team 12-0, beat a very strong Indonesia team 4-3 and beat Wollongong 9-2.
Solomon Islands Bilikiki beat Vanuatu 6-2, beat Wollongong 8-7 and beat Europa 12-1 in their final day one game yesterday. Today the Bilikiki will play their final pool game against Indonesia.
Assistant Coach Robert Yelou went in to play for his country in the Vanuatu’s second game and did well to help his boys come back to win all their three pools games and advance to the semi- final.
Vanuatu Beach Boys coach Wilson August said he is very happy to see his new boys play Beach Soccer. “I can’t believe it, the boys lost their first game and learned very fast and came back strongly in their last three matches.”
He added: “I’m very proud and happy to be the coach of this news Vanuatu Beach boys and our aim is to reach the semi- final.”
Vanuatu will now wait on Solomon Islands vs Indonesia result this morning to know which team they will take on in the semi- final this afternoon. The final of the Asia Pacific Gold Cup will take place this afternoon at Coolangatta Beach at Gold Coast.
Coach August said his side would need to improve more if they will face Solomon Islands again in the competition today, a team they have played many times in OFC Beach Soccer final.
“I have very good memories of playing against them, but we hope to do better this time if we have the chance to play them again,” he said.
“Overall I’m satisfied and thank God for my young team” “Maybe we were a bit tired since the game against the Solomon Islands but you can see in the last three matches, our attacking play was really good and there were some nice goals.”
