Carry the national flag with honour: Natuman

The Vanuatu U-15 football national team has been chosen by Oceania Football Confederation to represent Vanuatu and OFC to Nanjing Youth Olympic Games in China was commended by Vanuatu Prime Minister Joe Natuman for gaining Oceania Football recognition.
The team met this afternoon with the Prime Minister in his office where he also commended them for acting as sports ambassadors for Vanuatu and Oceania in China.
“It is a great honour for me as Head of the Government address you all before your departure on this special journey in Sports competition.”
“This is the second time Vanuatu U-15 football national team take part in the Youth Olympic Games and it certainly will not be the last!
“So count yourself very lucky to be part of this youth group representing Vanuatu and Oceania Football Confederation and carry the national flag and colour with honour.” Said Honourable Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Joe Natuman.
The second summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will be held in Nanjing, China from the 16 to 28 August 2014 and the Vanuatu Prime Minister will also attend the opening ceremony of the games on August 16 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Chinese Ambassador in Vanuatu, Mr, Xiu Bohua also delivered a very important message to the players.
“To participate in the Youth Olympic Games is not t ocompete in sports and get good results.”
“It will also help the youth meet people from different cultures and backgrounds, learn important sporting career, skills andexperience Olympic values.”
“A true champion never just stops at winning the game scores but the more important is to have a social responsibility, a healthy lifestyle, a virtue of mutual respect, which are the spirit of Olympic values in people’s mind.”
“All athletes and other youth participants may make use of the Youth Olympic games to make friends, exercise sports and life skills, learn healthy lifestyle, and eventually become the champions in life, the ambassador in sports and the advocates of friendship and respect.”
“As Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, I want to wish you good luck and safe travel to China.”
“I expect the delegation to actively participate in the culture education program during the tournament and show the unique charm of the Melanesian culture.” Concluded the Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, Mr. Xiu Bohua.
Vanuatu national under 15 team will fly off to China next Monday 11 August 2014 and is in Group D and the small yellows will play their first match against Korea Republic on the 18 August 2014.
Their second match is against Cape Verde on the 21 August 2014.
