Wilkins: I enjoyed playing football

Siaraga FC attacking midfielder White Wilkins is the person that got fans talking when he entered the field during his side’s semi-final match against Amicale FC two weeks ago.
The unique player was selected in the starting 11 of Siaraga FC and played 80 minutes of that match, though Amicale went on to beat Siaraga FC 4-2.
But for Wilkins, who turned 29 years old last month, the whole competition was a great experience for him, playing in front of five thousand fans and also against one of Vanuatu’s best teams.
“Today I made history, playing in a match like a normal player. I may have lost my hand three years ago but that doesn’t stop me from playing football,” Wilkins says.
“At first I was a bit nervous but after a few weeks on the ground at Chapuis Stadium I felt confident enough to play with my teammates. I really enjoyed playing in the TVL National Super League and to play against Amicale FC is always going to be a good experience.
“I will work hard again with my team to try and qualify for next year’s competition and I just want to wish Tafea FC all the best of luck for the 2014 OFC Champions League,” Wilkins concluded.
