Nalkutan won VFF TVL cup

The boys from South came to Port Vila stadium having also defeated the Port Vila former champion Tafea side in the pool game, and took the lead in the Southern Region table and become the first team outside Vila to win VFF cup since 1980.
Nalkutan striker Noel Stephen found Siaraga’s empty net in 43 minutes and made no mistake and scored the only goal to give the Boys from South the victory they have been dreaming about since going to camp two months ago in Tanna Island.
Nalkutan head coach Joe Iati had been hoping to become the first coach to win the title after Vila and his dreams comes through.
“I expected us to do better but at the end of the day we were beaten by the better team,” he told reporters.
“They are the best team we have ever played, they are at the peak in this cycle of their team.
Nalkutan captain Iaker Tess was in tears after receiving the cup and VT 200 000 from TVL and said he is very happy that his team won the TVL cup for the first time.
” I don’t know what to say but happy and thank God for the victory.” The boys play with their hearts today in front of over 5000 fans and we are so happy that we made it to the final and won.”
Siaraga captain Meren Tambe said they have performed well and happy with the score. ” We have come a long way and to be in the final is not easy.”

Siaraga FC lost the final and received VT 100 000 from Telecom Vanuatu Limited. TVL marketing staff, Tony Ligo said that TVL is very happy to see football developed well in Vanuatu and congratulated VFF,coaches, players, referees medias, volunteers and everyone for their time , supports and contribution to the beautiful game of football.
VFF President Lambert Maltock officially closed the TVL cup and said that VFF is proud to see that football is coming up in the islands and said in the next two years VFF will included island clubs to participate in the National Super League and the winner will represent Vanuatu in the O League competition.
