The Vanuatu Football Federation is pleased to announce Digicel Vanuatu as the new principal sponsor of the National Super League.
VFF President Lambert Maltock made the announcement this week, confirming the new name of the competition as Digicel National Super League.
The NSL is heading into its final stage this week in Luganville Soccer City Stadium where the final seven Member Association teams are set to play-off.
Maltock said the meetings with Digicel were hugely productive with the company having agreed to sponsor the two Final stages of the OFC Champions League qualifier for both the outer Member Associations and the Port Vila Football Association.
As Digicel is already sponsoring the PVFA Championship matches leading up to the Top 4, a decision was made to give an additional cash prize during the final stage of the seven team competition, and then again at the Grand Final of the Digicel National Super League which will determine the champions of Vanuatu and teams 1 and 2 for the OFC Champions League.
The winner of this weekend’s competition in Luganville will receive 500,000 vatu. For the team which wins the Grand Final, the prize will be 1,000,000 vatu. The prize money for the PVFA Top 4 winner will come from a different allocation.
The sponsorship at this stage is for the 2018 season and Maltock is hopeful it will extend further into the future.
“On behalf of Vanuatu Football Federation, Member Association presidents, leagues, clubs and football families, I wish to extend our most humble and inexpressible gratitude to Digicel Vanuatu for accepting to carry on the development of the National Super League in the country, and making it more attractive to fans as well as boosting interest across the country.”
