Golden Star stay top, qualify for top four

Erakor Golden Star FC stayed top of the PVFA Premier League Championship despite a 1-1 draw with Ifira Black Bird at Port Vila Stadium last Saturday and also the first team to book their place in top four competition.

Played before one of the biggest crowds of the season, Erakor dominated the match for long periods but were unable to find a way past a packed Ifira Black Bird defence.

Ifira Black Bird created few chances of their own too in the first half.

After the break it was Ifira who came out first and score against the table leader when Jean Pierre finally found the back of Erakor’s net when his shot past under Erakor keeper’s hands.

But before the end of the match, Vanuatu and Erakor top defender Brian Kaltack level the scoreboard in style.

Final score Erakor Golden Star 1-1 Ifira Black Bird.

Erakor still top the ladder with 33 points and the first club to book their place in the PVFA top four competition in December 2016 with still three matches to play.

Golden Star should have only three matches to play in the PVFA Premier League competition.

The PVFA top four competition kicks off in December to find the winner to represent Port Vila and Vanuatu Football in the OFC Champions League in 2017.
