The team manager of the Vanuatu U-17 national team, Matthew Temar said his team can make it to the second round of the OFC U-17 World Cup Qualifier if they beat New Caledonia 2-0 on Saturday.
Matthew said his team is improving a lot in the competition and they must play well against New Caledonia on Saturday and must score if they want to progress to the second round.
“Most of our players came from Santo and to lose 1-0 to Tahiti and draw with PNG 3-3 is a very good result.” said Matthew Temar.
“Our players especially strikers start scoring goals now after day two and what we need from them now is to score more goals against New Caledonia this Saturday to help us go through to the second ground.”
“We know New Caledonia has a good and strong team but our players are ready for action.”
“But one thing I can say is we can make it to the second round if they play well and score more goals.”
“In a another news, the two Vanuatu players who got dengue fever upon arrival and did not play their first two matches should be fit to play against New Caledonia tomorrow”
“As you you know one more of our player has been tested positive with dengue fever yesterday and he will be in the list to play against New Caledonia.” He said.
